I wonder if we'll ever go back to just having specialized models? Like we kinda do have with "-Coder" variants but I felt like that was the direction we were headed to with agentic workflows. Every new model seems to be a "do everything" model which just seems inefficient, like no matter what LLMs won't be better than Diffusion at image-gen but we still get billions of parameters wasted on that. Same with every language besides English, unless you need a translator in which case it would make sense to DL a specialist model for that language...⏱ 1d↩
