When I was about 8 years old and visiting the beach for the first time, a boy about my age and his younger sister approached me. The boy very bluntly, within earshot of my family, asked me if I was a boy or a girl. I was completely caught off-guard, but I still said I was a boy and asked him why he asked. He said I had the face of a girl but the body of a boy. I was so embarrassed I just walked away and felt sad.
