>Is Bamboo the goto basic printer now? Yes, Bamboo is the most "just works out of the box" brand at the moment for people who want a tool, not a hobby. And you can get started with an A1 mini for like 200$ and it's really good. Compared to more expensive options you'll be limited in filament choice and print volume, but other than that there's little in terms of tradeoffs. If you like figurines with many details like the one you posted, and you want to print them at a smaller scale (think anime figurine or like tabletop scale) you'll probably want a resin printer instead. They simply outcompete FDM in detail. In exchange they are more of a pain, cost more to run and produce far more fumes. So functional, you'll want to stick with FDM and bambu. High detail look into sla. In short: Functional prints, low hassle, cheap to print: FDM. Get a bambu that fits your budget. If you mostly want to print figurines with high details, consider resin instead. I'd advise against what suggests. It's coming from a good place, but "some tinkering" can be a giant pain in the ass. If you want to dive into that it can be fun, but if you care about the result, not the journey, don't do it. I used to have a 1.0 ender3 and it was miserable. Yeah I got similar results to more expensive machines, but I disliked using it because it came with continuous calibration and setup. Meanwhile my bambu printer is always instantly able to print, from anywhere, with zero setup.
