Math is not the most important thing to the development of civilization at all. Unless you consider engineering maths, but you really shouldn't because engineering doesn't required any proofs to work, only precise calculations. Pure mathematics is completely useless, a logical game, perhaps the most beautiful game ever invented by men, but still just a game.
