𓀐 @53rnPWie: I've now followed the "how to clean Linux Mint safely" guide I saw recommended (at least the relevant parts), as well as tried other suggestions, yet my root filesystem is still full. There's just one old kernel, Timeshift has no backups, thumbnails, logs, fonts, and software packages are all gone. I think. The exception is a few gigs of flatpaks which won't delete but I don't think that's the real issue. The only advice I haven't followed was essentially "open disk usage analyzer and delete th…+

𓀐 @xJCy62uq: I'm on wayland, what top bar/status bar do I use that's minimal and takes very little if no config to setup? I know of noctalia, quickshell, and dankmaterialshell (to be honest I don't even know if these are just bars because of the shell in their name). Tried waybar because it seemed minimal but it needs like two config files and CSS just to show a bunch of broken rainbow boxes on my screen so I got filtered and deleted it+

𓀐 @r~W+CZcH: I have zero Linux experience, looking for a distro for a craptop with these specs: >Intel Celeron N2807 2C/2T @1.58GHz/2.16GHz burst (its a 4.3W SoC from 2014, so just picture an ancient low power Core 2 Duo or something) >4GB RAM >Generic 5400RPM laptop HDD This is the only laptop I own, haven't used it in years but I'm gonna need a laptop for college just for chromebook-tier tasks. I already tested it with Windows 10 LTSC, and while it is capable of these things, there is too much system over…+

𓀐 @FfrEes7y: Has anyone updated to Plasma 6.8.x yet? I'm wondering if it uses "significantly" (50MB+) less RAM than 6.7.x. I think I'm switching from LXQt because Plasma only uses ~400MB more, and is much more complete and less hacky.+

𓀐 @KC_KVQM~: Niggas, where do I learn C from scratch? I want to one day be good enough to contribute to Linux projects, but I have never coded anything besides some basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript (already forgot all of it) I'm after a C guide that's free and helps me considering I have no idea how the backend or how relations between hardware and the language work. What do you recommend? A book? A video series? A website?+

𓀐 @YwG5XPx?: >>110117513 I'm on Xubuntu 22.04 and find it mediocre but acceptable. I heard 26.04 is bad. Been on this distro over a decade. Should I switch to something else? <10GB disk space for the OS+core packages is a hard requirement. Working package managers preferred (so, NOT pacman). I can use command line commands but I prefer not to on a daily basis (during system setup is OK). Thoughts?+

𓀐 @Mt2ejqAA: Is there another DE that has XFCE's functionality of being able to right click and select "open terminal here"? It's so useful and I realized that LXQt and MATE don't have that. Why is it that that only happens in XFCE and not LXQt even though the same terminal is used? What about XFCE makes that possible?+

𓀐 @QVsH9??U: Bros I can't stop distrohopping. It goes like this: install Arch, get tired of the updates. Install Debian, miss the updates. Upgrade to Debian Unstable, want SELinux. 𓀐 @yk=~_WBR: Really stupid question. What's the thing that lets me install multiple Linux distros on a USB? I'm coming from windows so I don't know what distro to stick with so I want to try a few. Also how big should my USB be? Win10 ISO was like 5GB, if they're as big as that and I want to try 10 distros then my 32GB stick won't be enough.+
