At any rate, in the introduction he starts by citing scholarly articles on the Kalevala, and then proceeds to describe Finnish meter and why he believes that Latin matches it well--which is exactly the type of autism I like in a translator. The actual poem is kicking my butt though. The syntax is simple, but the vocabulary is pretty broad (or at least broader than what I am used to), so for now I am leaving it aside. It reads quite nicely nonetheless, do if any anon wants to read it I can wholeheartedly recommended it.
