any plans for the weekend, /twg/?⬆↩ 1
I just want a job in FAANG so I can afford to have sex with decent looking escorts. Is that too much to ask for?⬆↩ 1
I hate chess and genuinely feel bad for the people who make a career out of it.⬆↩ 1
I wonder what the dynamic was between the connection that reading can provide vs. the alienation that having no one to talk about said reading with was like in the past. Like if I read John Gregory Dunne contemporaneously, lacking an expectation for mass communication, would I not feel melancholy that I probably wouldn't be able to find someone to chat about him with? I wish I knew more old people, the only ones I know either had the privilege to be parts of literary scenes that most of the country has always lacked or don't really care about reading in a social sense. Cached? Dubs and I smoke in the rain.⬆↩ 1
I used to imagine those couples I see on the street having sex. I mean, even vanilla sex feels pretty disgusting when you attach it to a person that is in public right now.⬆↩ 1

<KLAXON> AWOOGA AWOOGA </KLAXON> This is the Captain. ABANDON SHIP!! ABANDON SHIP!! I've started talking to Chat GPT about what I'm reading. In particular Limonov by Emmanuel Carrere. The conversation is so much better than anything I've had here. Plus the quality here has declined - just look at the threads. They're so bad. This place is going to die. There's only ONE good thread and it's about books never mentioned here. The WORST part is the number of threads from people who don't even seem to like literature - like WTF. IT"S OVER!! In case you need examples : 1. This novel is bullshit. Literally 100% bullshit from beginning to end.... 2. >That's a cool opinion abbot! However I have already homosexualized you as an effeminate pederast while depicting myself as the enlightened gigachad, therefore I win the argument. 3. This stupid fucking retard speedreads (150 pages an hour) 10 hours a day, thinks all philosophy is a waste of time, and still enjoys superhero comics. How are you structuring your reading to not end up like him? 4. Fiction is evil: It idealizes the world in a maladaptive way. And not even just the positive aspects of life but the negative ones too. Reality resists attempts at being assimilated into a narrative, and thus disappointment is the only thing that can follow. 5. This is supposed to be the greatest American writer but his work is formless and not especially refined. The vast majority of it is not read at all, and Moby Dick probably frustrates more readers than it stimulates. Is this 6. /lit/ I'm sorry.: I'm a fraud. I haven't read a single page in about a month. Yet I post frequently on this board. In my defense, I have been focusing on learning math... But that's no excuse! I've had plenty of time leftover every single day to read, and yet I have not done so. Therefore, you may etc....⬆↩ 1
another day wasted. i was supposed to work on my research but starcaster was live on X so i joined because i have a crush on her and next thing you know i wasted 3 hours and then i got sleepy for i left the stream, but instead of going to sleep i spent another 3 hours mindlessly scrolling on twitter. fucking end me dudes.⬆↩ 1
you couldn’t pay me to eat a five dollar (£3.74) chicken. i know they lose money on it but i still can’t fathom the horrific life a creature endures to be sold for a fiver.⬆↩ 1
I only just now learned the other, apparently main, definition of the word 'overwrought.' >Overwrought is an adjective that describes someone who is deeply agitated, nervous, or excessively upset, or something artistic that is overly ornate and lacking restraint.⬆↩ 1
Wagner's head was enormous. he should have been a philosopher.⬆↩ 1
Does anybody else have a list of words they often forget?⬆↩ 1
The attitude I had going through school was, "Alright this is fucking awful, but at least once I turn 18 this will end and I will never ever have to do it again." I wouldn't have been able to get through it, if I believed that something like this would continue my entire life. And that's simply that. There's no silver lining to a life of work. There's no, "And then one day it ends!!!!!" Retiring at age 70 is a profoundly retarded carrot-on-a-stick and we all know this. Your life as an average person is defined by the type of work you do, and we all know this. Anyone who's not a retard is either trying to make money doing what they love, or they're trying to get rich and retire ASAP. This is just obvious. Anything else and you're a slave. You're selling an ENTIRE FRACTION of your life away. In fact, more than a simple fraction. From age 18-70, it's not just 8 hours, but also the most productive and energetic slice of your day. It is completely insane. I don't need an Adderall script, I need financial freedom. I need to escape financial slavery, and it's not just me; anyone with a brain knows this is what we all have to do.⬆↩ 1
Is there anything from post-2010 Japan that you consider really impressive? 00s Japan had the golden age of vocaloid, NicoNico Douga, Shibuya Kei, last really good era of Studio Ghibli, it had the VN boom, the original shounen boom, it had classic 00s japan rock like The Pillows, great experimental stuff like Boredoms, Berserk, The climber, peak of quirky harem stuff etc... Honestly the last thing I saw from Japan that seemed like it was trying to do something unique and new was Hibike Euphonium. But I didn't actually watch it so some anime fan is probably gonna disagree. Idk I feel like Japan is just on autopilot as a culture now. Like Chainsaw Man was supposed to be the next big thing and I watch it and it just felt like a more plain version of old school shounen. There are more kids talking about One Piece now than Chainsaw Man because CM honestly isn't that amazing. And Japan has embraced remake culture even more than Western countries. Every game I loved as a kid like Final Fantasy, Silent Hill Resident Evil has just had its reputation crapped on via remakes. Idk man I feel like Japan doesn't give a fuck anymore⬆↩ 1
What should the next /lit/ fad be? I feel like we are due for a new one. Probably the last big one was the Dosto boom, from what I remember.⬆↩ 1
