I'm trying to expand the mortice of our aluminum doors so that I can insert a Zigbee sensor inside to sense if the doors are locked, but it seems I'm not using the correct tool for the job. First attempt was drilling (as evidenced by the two holes), the idea being to drill multiple holes then snap the remainder off, but realized that it's a double-layer of aluminum which took long to drill into, and I already broke one drill bit trying this out. Next attempt was a cut-off tool with a carbide disc but that also took pretty long and made a horrible job of the hole. I also tried a hand saw but it took forever to go just 1 cm, and the saw kept getting stuck too. What kind of tool should I actually be using? I don't want to spend any more money on my retarded ideas.
