Anaxagoras is definitely one of my favorite ancients. He held that the elements that make men (hair particles, skin particles, blood, etc) exist within all things and that they just constantly get recombined in different ways. This would naturally be the end result of his biology theory. Lmao He isn’t even that wrong. You can change “hair particles” to potassium, sodium, etc. and his basic theory is technically correct.
