I've been learning C for a while now and my first "big" project is gonna be essentially FFXIV but classic FF Active Time Battle format. I am planning out the project and I feel confident I can do a simple 2D version (For a demo it would be some famous bosses from FFXIV and a 4-8 man party, all the classes from FFXIV and their abilities). Why I'm asking here is I want to eventually make a 3D version atop the underlying 2D version, so the 3D ATB games, FF7 classic onwards to FF13. The 3D version would let you take your character model from FFXIV (there are plugins that do this already) and import it into my project and you can fight something like Kefka or Perfect Alexander but in a turn based styled game. I'm not experienced at all with coding 3D graphics and was planning to use 6.1 sol to achieve the 3D side of the project. Gameplay wise I am gonna have some things to make it more unique than just a ATB clone (positionals, resolving raid mechanics, etc.)
