𓀐 @U3+u6ACk: no harem Edition Stubbed >What is /wng/ — Web Novel General? A general for readers and authors involved or interested in the growing phenomenon of 'web novels', serialized English fiction posted to websites such as: Royal Road, Webnovel, Scribblehub, Wattpad, Archive of Our Own, Spacebattles, HFY, various personal author websites, and more >Why read web novels? Not for prose or tight editing or deep themes, frankly. As a whole, web novels are infamous for content sprawl and pacing issues. If you enjoy having millions of words to sink your teeth into to get to know the world and characters, though, you may be interested. Keeping up with other readers on a weekly basis to discuss the story's events unfolding is another perk, in the same way discussing an ongoing TV show might be. >Why write web novels? Ease of access & potential for Patreon earnings. Many successful authors gain an audience on their website of choice and funnel their readers into a Patreon. See graphtreon.com/top-patreon-creators/writing for an idea of what some are earning. Also, once an author has earned a fanbase, transitioning into an Amazon self-publishing career is several orders of magnitude easier than starting 'dry'. >Advice for Noobs! ##READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP## Running your story like the business it is: www.royalroad.com/forums/thread/116847 On writing web serials: alexanderwales.com/how-to-write-a-web-serial/ Sanderson's Writing Lectures 2025: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEUh_y1IFZY&list=PLSH_xM-KC3ZvzkfVo_Dls0B5GiE2oMcLY Recommended web novels rentry.co/d2yvczro Anon's guide to success rentry.co/RRBasicGuide FAQ rentry.co/pytefpxn

The terms are alright but do think about how they'd naturally use it in banter to make it more livelier or immersive considering that's what you're going for. Dialing up their personality is all good. I just wanted to confirm that the character's 'voice' is intentional. >tradfag but going webnovel route I just want you to dial down your expectation that every page needs to be perfectly sound when published. Write as fast as you can and edit just once or twice if you have enough time and publish asap to make the most money so you can afford to keep writing. If it's just a hobby for you then ignore this. People generally don't mind spelling and grammar errors so long as the story is interesting. WebNovel writers write 2000 - 4000 words a day to profit the most and it works for them and just edit later on when readers point it out for them. PirateAba streams her writing process every now and then and she usually finishes 6000 words a day at minimum. If you can't consistently deliver 4000-14,000 words a week, then you should stop now and continue with tradpubbing or stockpile at least 30-50 chapters before drip-feeding it and write as you go. Webnovel readers treat stories like junk food for the most part. they're not here to look for the next 'A Song of Ice and Fire' or 'Lord of the Rings.' Most webnovels are more character-driven than plot-driven. People want memorable (Not necessarily good) characters so don't make your MC the least interesting part of your story. Lastly, be honest. If you're here to make money, you can't be a selfish arse and demand people to immerse themselves in your story that's wildly different from the market. Make it as simple and easy to read and cater it to the current market's taste and get a good cover ASAP. People that have this kind of ego barely succeed in the webnovel industry because they believe their story is 'THE ONE' that will change the game forever. Not everyone is privileged to write a story that they truly enjoy as much as the readers will because most of them aren't good writers. >Source? Me. Take it from a pridelet who only made $90 a month at my peak (5 months) because I refused to go Wuxia or Frieren/Archmage.
