𓀐 @oCyn~pTg: What is the point of all that? If I want to read a progression story why would I give a fuck about which roastie "wins" in the end?+

𓀐 @9agDqfwY: Over 100 novels release on amazon alone EACH DAY. About 700 novels in the week around your release. Webnovel release? Successful litrpg isekai or xianxia cultivation, in your genre? BOOM you are done. Also, not only are you competing with other new releases, but the entire backlog of novels on every website or e-reader a reader uses. :) Take all the "indie success stories" you can think of in the past 10 years and divide it by the number of writers in that time who have tried (again, 100 novels a day, 3000 a month) and there's your historical likelihood of "making it." Patreon cut, publisher cuts, higher self-employment taxes, no benefits, no retirement, AND to top it all off: Your sales diminish over time, so even if you hit this "mediocrity lottery" you'll have to do it all over again in a couple years. >He thinks that indie writing can provide a sustainable primary income in 2026 Hahahahaha H O B B Y O B B Y+ 1

𓀐 @qDqL+Mum: I'm learning Japanese, currently around N2 level. It's insane to me that the endgame for RR is to slop around on Patreon while Japanese writers can get a manga or even anime adaption. I'm jealous! There really is no other pipeline like it in this world.+

𓀐 @~JA7ThM-: Is sexual content a turnoff (pun intended) on royal road? I don't plan on having a done, but there's a part where I think it would be important to show the sexual dynamic between two characters. Plus, writing porn is my strongsuit anyways, so if that's not gonna make me lose a ton of potential followers it would probably be in my wheelhouse.+

𓀐 @hBG?cJ-U: Know any good webnovels that are more about battles of wits/mental battles or intellectual? Or basically anything where it's determined more with games/intelligence rather than fighting. Not webnovels but I read Classroom of the Elite and enjoyed it. Death Note was cool too. Something along those lines.+

𓀐 @Ltb-nrHH: Some slight copium/hopium related to the AI problem. As of November 1st, about 9% of any AI-generated WNs actually chart into significant territory, and less than 7% for anything AI-assisted. Tower coming up in next post.+

𓀐 @3VtJRoEe: I've been uploading daily chapters for almost two weeks now on RR. I have only 180+ total views and got one follower who unfollowed a couple of days later. Is it still worth marketing this story to see how it would do with more exposure or would I just be wasting my time and it's already dead on arrival?+

𓀐 @ew7L~aBR: It is a female main character. I think she's bisexual but she has mixed feelings about a few different characters. (It's not a harem though, they don't follow her around and she isn't constantly 'hmm'ing and 'haww'ing over which waifu/husbando to fuck.) Is that actually a problem? Can male readers not just read the story and say 'oh, hell yeah, now i can self insert as this dude and imagine fucking the main character'?+

𓀐 @22P*=7ui: The terms are alright but do think about how they'd naturally use it in banter to make it more livelier or immersive considering that's what you're going for. Dialing up their personality is all good. I just wanted to confirm that the character's 'voice' is intentional. >tradfag but going webnovel route I just want you to dial down your expectation that every page needs to be perfectly sound when published. Write as fast as you can and edit just once or twice if you have enough time and publish asap to make the most money so you can afford to keep writing. If it's just a hobby for you then ignore this. People generally don't mind spelling and grammar errors so long as the story is interesting. WebNovel writers write 2000 - 4000 words a day to profit the most and it works for them and just edit later on when readers point it out for them. PirateAba streams her writing process every now and then and she usually finishes 6000 words a day at minimum. If you can't consistently deliver 4000-14,000 words a week, then you should stop now and continue with tradpubbing or stockpile at least 30-50 chapters before drip-feeding it and write as you go. Webnovel readers treat stories like junk food for the most part. they're not here to look for the next 'A Song of Ice and Fire' or 'Lord of the Rings.' Most webnovels are more character-driven than plot-driven. People want memorable (Not necessarily good) characters so don't make your MC the least interesting part of your story. Lastly, be honest. If you're here to make money, you can't be a selfish arse and demand people to immerse themselves in your story that's wildly different from the market. Make it as simple and easy to read and cater it to the current market's taste and get a good cover ASAP. People that have this kind of ego barely succeed in the webnovel industry because they believe their story is 'THE ONE' that will change the game forever. Not everyone is privileged to write a story that they truly enjoy as much as the readers will because most of them aren't good writers. >Source? Me. Take it from a pridelet who only made $90 a month at my peak (5 months) because I refused to go Wuxia or Frieren/Archmage.+

𓀐 @xkuqDsFg: I have an idea for a litrpg that kinda pokes at the framework of it a bit, needle at the tropes of the genre The main idea is to have the various parts that make up the rpg part of the setting be a bit more diagetic to a more "reasonable" universe. Everything that's found in a game and brought to the world can be decently explained with in-unvierse logic (think of what the Desitiny series did with respwans and Sword Logic) Levels aren't semi-arbitrary notions power and expeirce, they're a measurement of a specific powersource gained from killing certain entities and pulling it from their corpses The UI and stat screen is a form of memetic program people gain that function like a rpg system because that strangely the most useful and efficient was of having it Jobs/Classes are tied to "Archetypes" from the collective unconscious and by fulfilling the roles of them, you gain more power, drawing from said collective unconscious I don't know if it's been done before - probably has - but I developed the idea a bit and even came up with a decent structure of power for it and setting involving multiple dimensions a various sources of power Does it sound at least decent?+

𓀐 @MTm6KpVN: I'm having a crisis. I feel like if I don't add numbers to my story it'll stand no chance. But I don't really want to have numbers that go up: I want to show the protagonist getting stronger in other ways. Maybe I just need some clear displays of the differences in power between characters at the start to make it clear that there's 'somewhere to go'. A goal to reach for?+

𓀐 @fW9TDsjx: How can you have magic, fantasy and mechs in one universe? The litrpg system, skills, spells and all that stuff just doesn't work in a technology based universe.+

𓀐 @QtJo29ao: Hi. I started my first webnovel, Labors of a Paragon, back in April and posted about it here. It's run its full course and finished in early September. I actually credited you guys in the author's notes in the epilogue because the regulars here were incredibly helpful and far more fair to me than they needed to be. I've just started a new webnovel as of today, with seven chapters already out: Paragon of Monster Hunting. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/203428/paragon-of-monster-hunting It's a story about a redneck-nerd amputee getting a parasite and starting a kaiju-killing spree out in the desert with a surfboard-sized sword and an ever-evolving biological armor. There's a woman with big boobies in it. Quite a few creative lessons have been taken from the /wng/ posters here. Labors didn't get super far, but I was doing a lot wrong. I've studied, learned, and I plan on outperforming Labors in all metrics. For starters, this is meant to be more of an overt progression fantasy, centered on a monster evolution-esque system. This will be my only post advertising it, and I will resume posting anonymously from here on. Have a wonderful evening/day.+
